Galway team wins €2000 prize fund in national Shop-Local Competition.

Oranmore/Maree’s juvenile basketball team has won the first national EyeZone opticians support local competition. The competition which supports local children’s clubs and teams offered clubs around Ireland a chance to win from a prize fund of over €5000 including a top prize of €2000.00 for the club and an iPad for the winning entrant.

Today is finally the day, its time to give out the amazing Local competition prizes we’ve been storing and we’ve upgraded one prize to an iPad mini from an iPod touch.

The third place winner and recipient of €500 in sponsored equipment for her club and an iPad mini for themselves is Emma Kearns of Naas GAA Club. Emma is 9 and plays Comogie and football and is a customer of Infocus opticians in Naas. (Pictures to follow) It was supposed to be an iPod touch, but we thought its Christmas.

Win up to €5000 in sponsored equipment for your clubs or teams and an iPad for you

EyeZone Opticians are members of the local community, we recognise how supporting each other is of vital importance to keep our community spirit alive. For this reason and many more we want to give more back to the local children’s clubs and teams.

We’ve all been told that 30 minutes of exercise a day is important for your heart, health and your overall energy levels, but did you that 30 minutes of exercise could also help your vision. Like everything else in the human body, many eye diseases are linked to other health problems, including high blood pressure, diabetes & high cholesterol. Exercise helps keep these problems at bay or limit their impact if they do occur.

“My eyesight’s fine and I don’t need glasses, so I don’t need an eye test”! WRONG!

A full eye exam is not just about checking your vision to see if you need glasses. An eye exam looks at every aspect of your eyes – and that includes the health of your eyes.

It’s a common thing that our optometrists hear a lot from patients. “I had my eyes lasered”, or “I see just fine”, or “I can spot a needle a mile away!”. That may well be the case – which is great!  There are 2 things that come to mind here.

EyeZone opticians are today calling for an eye health initiative for 12-16 years olds
